Days after the Maharashtra cabinet approved the draft proposed for Shakti Bill, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane took a dig at the state's Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray without mentioning any names over the renaming of the bill proposed to curb atrocities against women and children.
The Maharashtra cabinet on Wednesday, December 9, has approved a draft bill that has provisions for stern punishment, including the death penalty, life sentence, and hefty fines, for the perpetrators, and also a speedy trial. The proposed bill crafted on the lines of Disha Act by the Andhra Pradesh government will be called as Shakti Act, 2020. It has been introduced to curb heinous crimes against women and children in the state.

Welcoming the new law, Nitesh Rane tweeted, “I was happy to hear that the Maharashtra government is bringing a law called ‘Shakti’. Needless to say, the law was renamed ‘Shakti’ instead of ‘Disha’. However, it is hoped that selected cases will not be considered while taking action under this Act. Every case should be given equal justice, even if a young minister is a suspect in that case."
I m glad Maha Gov is bringing a new law called ‘Shakti’.The name of the law was changed from “Disha” to “Shakti” for obv reasons..Hope the state is not selective abt choosing cases..every case shud be dealt in fair manner even if a young cabinet minister is 1 of the suspects!

The BJP had, earlier, hinted Aaditya Thackeray’s involvement in the Sushant Singh Rajput and Disha Salian suicide case on several occasions. Moreover, BJP had also demanded that the cases be investigated by the CBI. However, apart from the drug connection in Bollywood, nothing concrete has come out of this case yet.
Narayan Rane, Nitesh Rane and Nilesh Rane have repeatedly raised the issue of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Mumbai Police and Aaditya Thackeray in these suicide cases. Sushant Singh's already manager Disha Salian's death was also suspicious, so there was an attempt to pull Aaditya in this case as well. Therefore, there is talk that Nitesh Rane has targeted Aditya Thackeray again without mentioning his name from the word 'Disha'.
