There was no announcement in the state budget regarding the much-awaited hike in the Ladki Bahin scheme. This was the first budget of the government led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. It was presented by Ajit Pawar on Monday, March 10.
The Mahayuti government had launched the Ladki Bahin Yojana in July 2024. Under the scheme, eligible women are given INR 1,500 per month. In its election manifesto before the state assembly elections, the Mahayuti had promised to increase this amount to INR 2,100.
When asked about increasing the remuneration, Fadnavis said that the government is working on it and the state should maintain fiscal balance while fulfilling its commitments. While presenting the 11th Budget, Ajit Pawar allocated INR 36,000 crore for the Ladli Ladki Bahin Yojana for 2025-26, which is less than the estimated allocation of INR 46,000 crore last year.
