Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the ruling party in the centre, on Sunday created havoc outside a toy shop in Malad which apparently sold China-made products.

Mumbai BJP Yuva Morcha’s chief Tejinder Singh Tiwana and other party workers were protesting outside the shops which had toys on display. The BJP functionary and his supporters who were protesting asked the shop owners to not sell these items.

While protesting amid coronavirus outbreak, the BJP youth wing destroyed some items from the shops. The incident happened in Evershine Nagar locality in Malad on Sunday. However, the Bangur Nagar Police in Mumbai has booked them several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The police officer informed that they have taken a suo motu case under sections 188 (disobeying the order of public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease). No arrests have been made so far, the officer added.

Earlier, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale had called for a ban on restaurants and hotels selling Chinese food in the backdrop of borders clashes between India and China which has claimed the lives of 20 Indian Army soldiers. Athawale is the Minister of State (MoS) for Social Justice in the Narendra Modi cabinet.

The reports of a violent clash between the army personnel of China and India in Galwan Valley of Ladakh has sparked outrage among the people. Several leaders in the central government have called for ‘Boycotting Chinese products’.

However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi denied any Indian territory being lost in clashes with China. During the all-party meeting earlier, he said that no one has intruded into India’s territory.
