CM Devendra Fadnavis meets MNS Raj Thackeray, speculations rise

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met MNS President Raj Thackeray on Monday morning. Amid debates in political circles about the visit, leaders of the Shiv Sena Thackeray faction met Chief Minister Fadnavis at his residence on Monday over the issue of Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray's memorial. 

Chief Minister Fadnavis met Raj Thackeray in the morning at his 'Shivtirtha' residence in Dadar. It is understood that there was a discussion between the two parties for about an hour. 

“This was not a political visit. It was just a friendly meeting. After being elected Chief Minister, Raj Thackeray congratulated me over the phone and invited me to come home. Accordingly, I visited his residence,” said Devendra Fadnavis.

Both had breakfast, said Chief Minister Fadnavis to the media after the meeting. But it is understood that this meeting took place in connection with the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Elections.

In some constituencies, Shiv Sena's Thackeray group benefited from Mahayuti and Raj Thackeray fighting independently in the assembly elections. It is also understood that the BJP is ready to give Raj Thackeray's son a Legislative Council seat.

Uddhav Thackeray criticises BJP

Shiv Sena (Thackeray) party chief Uddhav Thackeray did not leave an opportunity to rebuke the BJP while there was talk of political visits. Thackeray slammed the BJP on various issues, including the controversy surrounding the immersion of the Ganesh idol. Thackeray criticised the BJP at the Shiv Sena Shiksha Sena meeting.

Discussion about Balasaheb Thackeray's memorial

While arguments were being made about the meeting between Chief Minister Fadnavis and Raj Thackeray, Shiv Sena Thackeray group leader Subhash Desai, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve and MLA Milind Narvekar met the Chief Minister at his 'Sagar' residence in the afternoon.

Subhash Desai said that Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray in Dadar has invited the Chief Minister to visit him after the completion of the first phase of the memorial. It is also understood that discussions were held with the Chief Minister about the work plan for the second phase of the memorial.
