As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched attacked against the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday lashed out at Devendra Fadnavis who is the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in state legislative assembly.

Refuting the speculations of a rift in the MVA government, Pawar said that senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was impatient and desperate but the state government was strong, safe and stable.

Earlier, a series of meetings of the leaders from the opposition and the MVA generated speculations that all is not okay in the Shiv Sena-led MVA government. However, Pawar told NDTV that he remains committed to his alliance with Congress and Shiv Sena.

Implying that Fadnavis was keen to bring down the government in Maharashtra, Pawar said that the senior BJP leader was getting impatient but there is no threat to the MVA government.

However, on Tuesday, Devendra Fadnavis said that the BJP was not trying to topple the Uddhav Thackeray government. The senior BJP leader further stated that the Shiv Sena-led MVA government will fall due to its own burden.

While talking to reporters in a virtual press conference, Fadnavis said that his party wants to pressurise the state government here to handle the coronavirus outbreak and alleged that the Maharashtra government was not spending financial aid properly.

“We are not trying to topple the government. Our focus is to fight the COVID-19 crisis in the state. We are not in a hurry to form the government but the BJP wants to pressurise the government in the fight against COVID-19. This government will due to its own burden and lack of coordination,” Devendra Fadnavis asserted.

Fadnavis also distanced the saffron party from Narayan Rane’s demand to impose President’s rule in Maharashtra in view of the “failure” of MVA government in handling the COVID-19 crisis.
