Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday extended full support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the armed forces saying that his government strongly stands with the centre on the India-China border face-off in Ladakh.
Thackeray was part of the all-party meeting called by PM Modi to discuss the stand-off with China at Galwan Valley which has claimed the lives of 20 Indian Army personnel.
During the virtual interaction, the Maharashtra Chief Minister said that the country stands in solidarity with PM Modi. There was a need to tell China that India was ‘majboot’ (strong) and not ‘majboor’ (helpless), he added while asserting that a dialogue exchange must continue.
“The Maharashtra government stands firmly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the armed forces during the time of such a crisis. However, we should give a message to China that India is not helpless but strong. We will give you all possible cooperation,” Thackeray said in the all-party meeting.
The Shiv Sena chief further said that India’s focus has always remained on diplomacy and dialogue but if anyone downsides the same the country should show its strength. He added that India was not desperate to attack anyone but is not weak either.
Thackeray said that there is a view across the world which blames China for the coronavirus outbreak. However, China is playing a game of pressure tactics and is trying to take advantage of the COVID-19 crisis here.
Earlier, while speaking on the occasion of Shiv Sena’s 54th foundation day, Thackeray said that Sahyadri (a mountain range in the Western Ghats) will stand with Himalaya during these trouble times.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that China has not captured any Indian territory or crossed the borders dismissing the claims of intrusion by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
