As the number of cases for the coronavirus or COVID-19 keeps on increasing, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh raised serious questions over the Tablighi Jamaat congregation, which happened at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz while trying to corner Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Deshmukh’s remarks come after he informed that 50 people out of the 1,400 members of Tablighi Jamaat who attended the religious gathering in Delhi have gone incommunicado. The Maharashtra Home Minister had warned of strict action against them if they don’t approach the government.

The Maharashtra Home Minister released his questions to the press and asked, “Why did the Union Home Ministry give permission for the congregation of Tablighi Markaz in Delhi?”

Maharashtra Home Department had denied the permission to a Delhi-like Tablighi Jamaat event in the state earlier, informed Deshmukh while accusing the centre of giving permission to the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz amid the coronavirus outbreak.

In a list of eight questions, Deshmukh asked why was the event not stopped in Delhi despite Nizamuddin Police station being in the vicinity while stating, “the central government gave permission for Markaz event and didn’t stop the same.”

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh further questioned the “secret discussion” held between National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and Tablighi Jamaat leader Maulana Saab at 2:00 in the morning.

“Who sent NSA Ajit Doval to Markaz at 2:00 AM? Is this the job of Delhi police of the NSA?” Deshmukh asked while saying that Doval and Delhi police chief are avoiding to speak on the issue.

The Tablighi Jamaat event has caused a huge ruckus in mainstream media after members of the Jamaat were linked to a spike in the coronavirus or COVID-19 across the country.

Earlier, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief had also blamed the Union government for allowing the religious congregation at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
