On May 19, as the day progressed, news channels across the countries began displaying the exit polls for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. In response to which Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar called out the news channels for their 'nautanki' (drama).

The NCP chief said,

The exit polls are just nautanki. Everyone will get the answers on May 23 (Lok Sabha 2019 Elections Results)."

The outrage from the politician comes after various news channels displayed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had a clear majority

Pawar was present at an iftar dinner held by the party and speaking at the dinner, he called the exit polls a big farce and stated that the direction of the country would be cleared within a few days. He also added that several media houses had become puppets to the ruling party (BJP).
