Maharashtra has revamped its cabinet with 48% new faces, bringing fresh energy and decreasing the average age to 55.4. The cabinet expansion was announced in Nagpur on Sunday, December 15. The reshuffle removed 13 former ministers and introduced 18 new members.
The BJP inducted 8 new ministers:
- Three are ministers of state: Madhuri Misal, Pankaj Bhoyar, and Meghna Bordikar.
- Five are cabinet ministers: Nitesh Rane, Shivendraraje Bhosale, Jaikumar Gore, Sanjay Sawakare, and Akash Phundkar.
Shiv Sena has brought forward 6 new ministers:
- Two are ministers of state: Ashish Jaiswal and Yogesh Kadam.
- Four are at the cabinet level: Pratap Sarnaik, Sanjay Shrisat, Bharat Gogawale, and Prakash Abitkar.
NCP introduced 4 new members:
- One Minister of State: Indraneel Naik
- Three Cabinet Ministers: Makrand Patil, Babasaheb Patil, and Narhari Zirwal.
Earlier, Zirwal from NCP held the position of deputy speaker in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Additionally, Bharat Gogawale from Shiv Sena previously served as the chief whip.
The cabinet has also increased its representation of women. Now, there are a total of four new members. This means women now make up 10% of the cabinet strength, which is a 300% increase from the earlier one.
- Cabinet Ministers: Aditi Tatkare of the NCP and Pankaja Munde of the BJP
- Ministers of State: Meghna Bordikar and Madhuri Misal of the BJP.

Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the focus on merit and balanced representation of regions, castes, and communities. He talked about the improvement in women’s representation. He also assured further efforts to increase women's participation in the future.
