MLA Sunil Prabhu has alleged that when Mumbaikars were suffering due to Wednesday's rains, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was not in place, the water pumping pumps were not working in many places, and the emergency department staff were not picking up the phone. Prabhu has also written a letter to Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and complained in this matter.

In Mumbai, due to Wednesday's rain, many places got waterlogged. Therefore, the planning of BMC is being criticised. Shiv Sena Thackeray MLA from Dindoshi Sunil Prabhu has alleged that the municipal system was not equipped when the Meteorological Department issued a red alert. We received complaints that no one was responding when we called the control room of the municipality. There were also complaints that the pumps for pumping rainwater were also stopped. There was a huge traffic jam on the road. Passengers were trapped in the trains. Prabhu also said that Mumbaikars could not get facilities due to such an emergency situation, so the Mumbaikars suffered.

In this regard, Prabhu said that the pumps were closed in many places in Mumbai. No one was picking up the phone in the control room. The employees of the civic body thought that the monsoon was over so the system was not ready. There was a huge traffic jam on the roads. People were stuck in cars for three hours. Many passengers with diabetes were stuck in the trains.

Prabhu has called for the department head to be instructed to remain prepared for emergencies. In response, senior BMC officials stated that within two to three hours of the meteorological department issuing the red alert, the municipal administration had directed the system to be on standby. Additionally, instructions were given to check if the pumps were operational, as there had been no rainfall in recent days. Officials further confirmed they were ordered to ensure the pumps had sufficient diesel and a stable electricity connection.
