Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday night in a meeting decided to form an alliance with “like-minded” parties to fight against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.

This decision was taken in a meeting at the residence of opposition leader Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil. Various leaders were present in the meeting, including Maharashtra Congress President Ashok Chavan, Maharashtra NCP President Jayant Patil, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Manikrao Thackeray, Sanjay Nirupam, Chagan Bhujbal, Sachin Ahir and others.

The upcoming polls, in the year 2019, will be interesting to observe as the Modi-wave maybe challenged, if the opposition unites. Congress and NCP are taking initiative to unite the “like-minded” parties before the elections.

After the meeting, Ashok Chavan said that they are trying to form an alliance with the other opposition parties and any development in the same will be reported to the party.
