Badlapur residents got on streets and did rail roko on August 20 in response to a rape case where a school cleaner raped two girls of age 4 in the bathroom. The accused Akshay Shinde has been arrested. Meanwhile, police took more than 12 hours to file an FIR. Shiv Sena (UBT) Sanjay Raut has alleged that there was pressure on the police not to file an FIR in this case.
What did Sanjay Raut say?
“The school in Badlapur where the girls were sexually abused is related to the BJP. Unfortunately, if it had been from another party, its trustees would have been Congress, us or someone else, then Devendra Fadnavis and his Mahila Mandal would have become aggressive. Why didn't the bulldozers go to Badlapur? Badlapur saw an outcry of the people on Tuesday. When there is such a public cry, the court has taken cognizance of the same. So why did the Supreme Court not take notice of the Badlapur incident? The Supreme Court took cognizance of the incident in Kolkata because Mamata Banerjee's government was there. The public cry of Badlapur was higher than that of Kolkata. Devendra Fadnavis announced the SIT. What is the need? The word SIT does not suit Fadnavis. Devendra Fadnavis canceled the SITs which were set up by the Thackeray government.”
Who pressured the police for 12 hours?
The mindset of the government is the mindset of Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister who went to campaign for a notorious rapist Prajwal Revanna in Karnataka, even though more than 200 women have filed sexual harassment complaints against him, Modi goes to his campaigns and praises him. Such leadership is acceptable to the Maharashtra government. What will they expect from the government? The outcry of the people of Badlapur was against the Shinde’s government. The complaint of the girls' parents was not taken for 12 hours as pressure was put on the police. Sanjay Raut also said that this is a disgrace to Maharashtra.
