On Tuesday, February 2, Shiv Sena leader MP Sanjay Raut along with other Shiv Sena MPs met the agitating farmers on the Delhi border. During the visit, he slammed the central government's decision with regards to the farm laws while speaking to the farmers.
Sanjay Raut had earlier announced on Twitter that he would visit the agitating farmers following the suggestion of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Accordingly, he went to the Ghazipur border and met farmer leader Rakesh Tikait. He was accompanied by Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut, Arvind Sawant, Anil Parab and others.
In view of the situation, Raut stated that the Shiv Sena Chief and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had instructed all Shiv Sena MPs to meet the agitating farmers. Raut informed, “He told us that it was our duty to stand behind the agitators and support them in the face of injustice being done to them by the central government. Accordingly, we have reached here with Uddhav Thackeray's message and condolences,”
He further added, “We had a telephone conversation with Rakesh Tikait but it's different to talk on the phone and actually come on the field and support due to which we have come to the actual battlefield and declared our support for them. Not only that, it is the duty of every political party in the country to come here and express their sentiments,”
The Shiv Sena party has now been supporting the farmers who are agitating at Delhi’s border points for over two months against the Centre’s three new farm laws. Moreover, the protestors have been pouring in as the Bharatiya Kisan Union members and its leader Rakesh Tikait have stayed pitched at Ghazipur’s UP Gate, occupying a stretch of the Delhi-Meerut highway since November last year.
