In the wake of the three priests raping and killing a married woman in Kalyan taluka, Legislative Council Deputy Speaker Neelam Gorhe has demanded from Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis that all employees, priests and full-time servants working in religious places should be verified through the police station.
A sensational incident came to light on July 9 where three priests of the Ghol Ganpati temple in Shilgaon, Kalyan taluka of Thane district, gang raped and murdered a 30-year-old woman.

A special public prosecutor should be appointed so that the accused in this incident get proper punishment, CCTVs should be installed in all the temples and places of worship in the state to prevent such incidents from happening in the future, character verification of the employees, priests and full-time servants in the religious places should be done through the nearest police station, and the woman's case should be investigated.
Gorhe has suggested in the letter that psychiatric services and counseling should be provided to the family members.
