Ramdas Athawale, who became an internet sensation after his ‘Go Corona Go’ stint, has said that all restaurants and hotels selling Chinese food should be banned. His remarks come after the India China Ladakh face-off where 20 Indian Army personnel were killed.
Athawale is the Minister of State (MoS) for Social Justice in the Narendra Modi cabinet and is the head of Republican Party of India (RPI). The RPI chief called for a boycott of Chinese food amid the wave of people boycotting China-made products in the country.
The violent clash between the Indian Army and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at Galwan Valley in Ladakh has sparked a huge outrage among people against China.
“Indian has given Buddha to China, not war. If China wants war, the Indian Army can teach them a permanent lesson. However, since India is fighting against the coronavirus outbreak, it doesn’t need to go war with China,” Athawale tweeted in Marathi.
He further demanded that India should boycott Chinese products and its food as well while stating that the hotels serving Chinese food should also be banned. Athawale also paid his tribute to the soldiers who died in the violent face-off.
“The martyrdom of 20 soldiers who were killed in the violent clashes in Galwan of Ladakh will not go in vain. The government of India stands and its citizens stand with the families of the deceased soldiers,” he tweeted in Hindi.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the sacrifice of the martyred soldiers will not go in vain. He asserted that India was capable of giving befitting reply if instigated but wants peace.
