The Mahayuti has taken the failure of the Lok Sabha elections seriously and will rectify the mistakes by winning the trust of Dalit, minority and tribal communities. Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party President Ajit Pawar tried to make the workers believe that the result of the Legislative Assembly will definitely be different from that of the Lok Sabha. The silver jubilee of the party was celebrated on behalf of the Ajit Pawar group.
In the upcoming budget, Pawar indicated to give more funds to the social groups that have moved away from the Mahayuti. He advised the leaders and workers not to get demotivated even if they get fewer seats in the Lok Sabha. Maha Vikas Aghadi got 43.90 percent and Mahayuti 43.30 percent votes in the elections. The difference between the two is only half a percent of votes. Some sections of the society alienated us as the opposition created a false narrative.
Pawar said that efforts will be made to reduce the gap between them. The opposition campaigned that the constitution will be changed. We failed to respond to it. As long as there is moon and sun, no one will dare to change the situation, Pawar said. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and leaders of Mahayuti held meetings in Delhi for two days. He explained that there was a detailed discussion on how to correct the mistakes made during the Lok Sabha. Pawar said that even if we joined the Mahayuti, we have not left our ideology. We have next 120 days for assembly elections. Party's working president Praful Patel said that efforts should be made to reconnect the minority community that has been separated from us during this time.
Disagreements over seat allocation
We have more than 50 MLAs with us. Patel claimed that we will get these seats but more seats will be our share. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal demanded that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena should get the same number of seats as NCP during the assembly.
Gratitude to Sharad Pawar
Ever since the split in the party, Ajit Pawar had been targeting his uncle Sharad Pawar. It was publicly advised that 'you are old enough to stop now'. Ajit Pawar's attitude towards Sharad Pawar seems to have changed due to his failure in the Lok Sabha elections. Sharad Pawar gave effective leadership to the party for 24 years and I am very grateful for the same,” expressed Ajit Pawar.
