Cases of hit and run accidents are happening frequently in the state. A terrible accident took place near Atria Mall in Worli early on Sunday morning. A BMW vehicle hit a couple from Worli Koliwada carrying fish on a two-wheeler from behind. In this collision, the woman on the two-wheeler was dragged up to 100 meters. Due to this, she died unfortunately. As the said BMW vehicle belongs to Shiv Sena Shinde group deputy leader Rajesh Shah, the police have taken him into custody for questioning. After this, the opposition criticised the Shiv Sena Shinde group, demanding justice for the victims. Now Chief Minister Eknath Shinde himself has given his first reaction in this case.


What did Eknath Shinde say? 

While talking to the media, Chief Minister Shinde said that after the accident, I had a discussion with the police. All are equal before the law. Government treats all incidents equally. This incident is no different. We will not work to save anyone. The incident is very sad. The government will try to prevent such accidents from happening again. Action will be taken against the accused as per law.

After getting information about the accident, Worli MLA Aaditya Thackeray reached Worli police station and took information from the police. He also promised to meet the families of the victims and get justice for them. Chief Minister Shinde also reacted to this. He said, the work of the opposition is to oppose. But our government will not support anyone. Even if he is our official, we will work to give equal justice to everyone.


Meanwhile, Aaditya Thackeray went to Worli Police Station and interacted with the media after getting information about the incident. He said, “A hit and run incident took place in Worli this morning. Senior police officers are investigating. CCTV footage has also been seized. I will not politicize the incident, regardless of the party accused in this incident. I will not give political color to this incident. My demand is that the accused who was driving should be severely punished”. 


Aaditya Thackeray also expressed hope that there should not be any political interference in this incident.


How did the accident happen? 

The accident took place at 5.30 am near Atria Mall in Worli. The Nakhwa couple lives in Worli Koliwada, which is near the mall, and they went to Sassoon Dock in the morning to buy fish. While returning home with fish, his bike was hit by a BMW coming from behind. Nakhawa, who was driving the bike, lost control of the bike due to a fish on the bike. So the husband and wife hit the bonnet of the vehicle. Nakhwa fell to the side after the vehicle braked. But his wife could not come aside in time. As the driver of the BMW drove the vehicle away, she was dragged along with the vehicle for 100 meters which claimed her life.
