The new Bajaj Qute quadricycle bridges the gap between a three-wheeler rickshaw and a four-wheeler and could possibly be a replacement for the former. The quadricycle falls under the category of the microcar. Mumbai's first quadricycle hit the suburban roads in Chembur.
As stated in Hindustan Times, Sampat Bhalekar was the first person in Mumbai to register a quadricycle as soon as it was launched. The rates of the quadricycle will be the same as an autorickshaw. According to Bhalekar, people were reluctant to get into the vehicle as it resembles a taxi. Therefore he had to keep a sign 'auto-rickshaw' in front and rear of the vehicle.
