The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) launched a special free bus service between T-2 Terminal Metro Station and the Airport (P4 Entry) through the 'Multi-Model Integration' service in order to get from the metro station to the desired destination.

On the other hand, with the help of BEST, Traffic Police, Airport Authority and Mumbai Corporation, various works including construction of new bus routes and BEST bus stops, and construction of pedestrian bridges have been undertaken. The MMRC has claimed that if these works are completed, the journey on the 'Metro 3' route will become easier.

At present, 25,000 passengers are commuting daily on the Aarey-BKC route of the 'Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3' route. The first phase of the underground metro journey on the 'Metro 3' route between Aarey-BKC has started. However, the number of passengers on this route is currently very low. In addition, none of the facilities required to go from the metro station to the desired destination are available outside the metro station. Due to this, passengers are facing great inconvenience and a large number of Mumbaikars are seen to be avoiding subway travel. The MMRC is being criticised for this.

Keeping all these factors in mind, MMRC has taken steps to increase the number of passengers on this route by making subway metro travel easier. Ashwini Bhide, Managing Director of MMRC informed that all the necessary facilities have been made available through MMRC so that the passengers can reach their desired destination through the 'Multi-modal integration' service outside the 10 metro stations between Aarey-BKC.

Bus service schedule

The bus service will run from 6.30 am to 11 pm from Monday to Friday and from 8.15 am to 11 pm on Sunday. These 21 passenger capacity buses have been made available for the passengers and the bus will leave every 15 minutes.

● Repair and improvement of footpaths outside all stations between Aarey-BKC has been taken up. Construction of pedestrian bridges is also in progress at some places. At the same time, all stations will be connected by BEST by reorganising BEST bus routes.

● All stations will be connected by BEST Bus by November 15. Special free bus service between T2 Terminal and Airport P4 Entry from October 15 to cover the distance from T2 Terminal Metro Station to Airport P4 Entry.
