According to the latest reports, the Civil Aviation Ministry on Tuesday, March 8 stated that the Government of India has undertaken the decision to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India from March 27.

However, the authority added that the international operations will be subject to strict adherence to Ministry of Health guidelines for international travel.
Based on accounts, these flights will adhere to the standard operating procedures that are effective at Indian airports for foreign arrivals and departments, the government mentioned.

Conclusions can be drawn that the said decision was undertaken given the decline in COVID-19 cases. Flight operations will normalise after a hiatus of two years owing to the coronavirus induced lockdown.
For those unversed, scheduled international flights have been suspended in the country since March 23, 2020, because of the pandemic. However, special passenger flights were plying between India and nearly 40 countries by means of air bubble agreements since July 2020.
The ministry of civil aviation in its statement elaborated on how after considering the increased vaccination coverage across the world and consulting with the stakeholder, the Indian government decided to recommence scheduled international passengers services.
