Navi Mumbai: Jasai flyover proving to be a death trap for bikers; five die
SHARES

Two people died in an accident on Jasai flyover on Monday, February 10. This was the second accident here in a month. On January 13, a college youth from Uran died on the same bridge. At least one accident is happening every day. So this bridge has become a death trap for bikers.

Jasai Naka is on the old Uran-Panvel route. There is a huge traffic jam at this port every day. This route was widened from JNPT to Amr Marg (Navi Mumbai). For this, a one and a half kilometer long flyover was constructed from Dastan Phata to Shankar Mandir at Jasai. The work of this bridge, which was initially stalled, has started.

Meanwhile, four labourers were killed when a beam (girder) of a bridge fell near Jasai village. Even after two years of opening the bridge for traffic, the road leading towards Panvel and Navi Mumbai is blocked due to Shankar temple. So, although the work of the flyover has been completed, this route is incomplete. Accidents have also occurred due to this narrow route.

The Jasai flyover is a four-tiered structure. There are service roads on both sides of the bridge. But the service of this bridge from Uran to Panvel has been stopped due to Jasai Shankar temple.

Violating of the speed limit

Drivers do not follow the speed limit while driving over the bridge. Due to this, accidents have increased. Accidents are also taking place due to hitting heavy vehicles while speeding. Jasai flyover connecting Navi Mumbai and Panvel, Uran has reduced the travel distance. But due to the incomplete work of Jasai bridge, accidents have increased and the stalled work of the bridge should be completed as soon as possible, expressed Hemant Patil, a regular traveler.
