The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has taken a major step in accelerating the city’s infrastructure projects. Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee recently met with Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumbhare and project engineers to discuss delays in obtaining permissions for projects.
As a result of this meeting, 17 pending permissions for nine key projects have been approved. These projects include the Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector and several metro lines. This will speed up the progress of Mumbai’s public transit system.
Metro Line 2B
* Extension of traffic permission near Milan Subway Junction and S.V. Road
* Installation of a height gauge from D.N. Nagar to Mandale
* Traffic diversion near Bandra RoB on the Western Express Highway
Metro Line 6
* Traffic diversion at IIT Powai
* Traffic diversion from Saki Vihar to Rambaug
* Extension of traffic permissions for the BC02R Package (Mahakali Caves to Powai Lake)
* Traffic management near P103
Metro Line 7A
* Extension of traffic permissions for the elevated stretch along the Western Express Highway
Metro Line 9
* Traffic extension for the Dahisar (E) to Mira Bhayandar stretch
Sewri-Worli Elevated Connector Project
* Movement of signal poles at Acharya Donde Marg (P31-P32)
* Road closures on Elphinstone Road for girder launches on Acharya Donde Marg
Akurli Subway (Western Express Highway)
* Widening and construction of the subway
Elevated Corridor Project
* Design and construction of an elevated corridor from Kurla to Vakola Flyover on the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road
* Covering Vakola Junction, BKC Junction, MTNL Junction, and the LBS Flyover
Some permissions remain pending. The Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) and the Missing Link Flyover at Poonam Nagar are still awaiting approval until June 2026.
